The Gospel of Jesus Christ

The gospel is at the center of all we do at Covenant Reformed Church. The “gospel” is the good news that Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords. God’s kingdom reign has victoriously entered into the world through the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ.  By Christ’s death and resurrection, God’s wrath against sin was satisfied, and at the cross of Christ  sin, death, and Satan were ultimately defeated. The Holy Spirit has been sent from Heaven to put into effect what God has accomplished through Jesus. God brings this salvation (regeneration, forgiveness of sins, justification, sanctification, glorification and hope of eternal life) to the world through the preaching of this gospel message. When this message is preached, and believed, by God’s grace alone, people who are “dead in their trespasses and sins” and who are “enemies of God,” are “made alive in Christ” and “brought near to God” by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Salvation begins in the hearts and lives of individuals when the message of the crucified and risen Savior is believed as the only way that God has provided for fallen humans to be in a right standing before Him.  In short, we believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, revealed to us in Scripture alone, for the glory of God alone.
